Kuils River Association Football Club have ended their first season in the Cape Town Tygerberg Football Association (CTTFA) by winning the Second Division Knock Out competition at Edgemead Football Grounds on Saturday 6 October.

The trophy caps a remarkable, and challenging, first year back in the CTTFA, having left the association in 1982. Based at the Sarepta Sports Grounds, the club has produced some big names, with current PSL player, Eleazar Rodgers, one of more recent names to come out of the "Mighty Kuila". Against the backdrop of the recent water shortage, all the club's teams have been forced to play their matches at away venues. This, however, did not stop the clubs men's first team from ending the season undefeated and securing the coveted cup this past weekend.

Coach Kurt Lunzmann’s troops qualified top of their group following a 2-0 win over Goodwood United and were pitted against final opponents Tramway FC. The match was anticipated to be a tight affair as Tramway have also hit a rich vein of form. Kuils River opened the scoring first with Darryll Rose converting an early penalty following a handball in the box. The remainder of the half ebbed and flowed with Tramway concentrating on long diagonal balls and build up play, with Kuils River sticking to a fast paced counter attacking gameplan. Kuils River extended their lead 5 minutes before half-time after the Tramway keeper could only parry Rahmeez Raubenheimer’s strong left footed hook shot, from just inside the box, into the top right corner of the goal.

The second half saw Tramway come out the change rooms with renewed vigor, and 15 minutes into the half, they managed to claw a goal back with a neat finish from close range. However, Kuils River again took their chances when it counted with Jahanno Fransmann harassing the Tramway GK into a mistake in the box, from which he was able to poke the ball home for a 3-1 lead with 15 mins to play. Tramway were able to find another goal during added time, but it was all for in vain as Kuils River were able to close out the game and deservedly lift the cup.
